Key facts before you start

Florida slab-on-grade is the #1 LVP failure point — test it, never eyeball it: LifeProof requires 'New concrete slab must cure for at least 90 days' and that EVERY slab be moisture-tested because 'Visual checks are not reliable.' Pass one of: calcium chloride under 8 lb/1,000 sq ft/24 hr (ASTM F1869), in-situ RH 85% max (ASTM F2170), or 4% max on a Tramex meter — minimum 3 tests per 1,000 sq ft. Keep the AC running the entire job: LifeProof states 'The HVAC system must be on and functional before, during, and after installation' and flatly bars installs in 'non-temperature controlled rooms or homes.' Hold the room at 50-100°F and 35-85% RH continuously in Orlando's humidity — rigid-core needs no acclimation, but a floor laid in an unconditioned house or on an open lanai/sunroom will expand and gap once the AC cycles or the wet season arrives. Flatten and prep the slab before a single plank: min 3,000 psi concrete, flat to 1/4 in. in a 10 ft. span with no slope over 1 in. per 6 ft (Shaw and COREtec spec it tighter — 3/16 in. in 10 ft or 1/8 in. in 6 ft) — grind high spots, fill lows with floor patch, because the click-lock telegraphs every bump.
