Who runs DIYrr

DIYrr is built and run in Orlando by Andrew Karhan, an Orlando home-services business owner, through Karhan Companies LLC. It exists because the honest answers to ordinary repair questions — can I do this myself, do I need a permit, what will it cost — were scattered across statutes, county PDFs, manufacturer manuals, and advice written for other states' building codes.

How the guides are sourced

Every fact in the guide library traces to a named source: manufacturer installation manuals, the Florida Building Code, Florida statutes, and the published pages of the Orange County and City of Orlando building divisions. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom, and each page shows the date its content last changed. Nothing is paraphrased into something a source doesn't say — where the honest answer is "it depends" or "check with the county," the page says that.

Why it's free

The repair planner and every guide are free, with no account and no paywall. Karhan Companies is an Orlando repair and remodeling business; DIYrr is its answer to the question "who do I call for the small stuff?" — most repairs on this site are jobs you can do yourself, and helping you do them well costs us nothing but earns trust. When a job outgrows DIY, some guides point to the matching service — clearly labeled, never required.
