Max length is set by the DRYER MANUFACTURER, not by a flat 35 ft: FBC-R M1502.4.5.2 — "The size and maximum length of the exhaust duct shall be determined by the dryer manufacturer's installation instructions" (and those instructions go to the inspector). The 35-ft equivalent in M1502.4.5 is only the fallback when the manual is silent, and Whirlpool's rigid-metal chart cuts BOTH ways: 0 turns = 64 ft with a box/louvered hood but 58 ft with an angled hood; 3 turns = 35/29 ft; 4 turns = 27/21 ft, and 4 elbows is its stated maximum. Elbow math when using the code default (Table M1502.4.5.1): deduct 5 ft per 4"-radius mitered 90° and 2'6" per mitered 45°, but only 1'9" for a 6"-radius SMOOTH 90° — swapping mitered for smooth wide-radius elbows (Whirlpool: "45° elbows provide better airflow than 90° elbows") often saves a reroute. Over 35 ft equivalent a permanent label must be within 6 ft of the dryer connection (M1502.4.6).
